While working as the Fundraising and Communications Assistant at Surrey Women's Centre, I was honoured to welcome eight new volunteers to the Centre and celebrate their generous donations to support women, children, and victims of violence in our community. Their contributions were made possible due to the My Community Fund by the Royal Bank of Canada! It was amazing experience to meet each one of these inspiring women, working at RBC in various roles, and share a piece of my professional world with them. Being a part of the emotional work that takes place at Surrey's Women Centre has been a transformational experience, and I will deeply hold these memories in my heart forever.
Often times, the Surrey Women's Centre is the first place that many women choose to call during a crisis. It is our main priority to ensure every woman has a safe, secure, and judgement-free place to turn to and find community within. With the help of these amazing staff at RBC and many more supporters, we are able to keep our doors open and continue to provide life-saving crisis, court, and counselling services to those who need it most. Thank you to Kulvit, Ciara, Kelsey, Ayra, Han, Sonia, Jaap, and Alexandra, for becoming a part of my life, and for becoming a critical part of our client's lives too.
